I support equitable pay increases for educators while vetoing budgets that value tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations over investing in public education, technology, training, and supporting bonds to build new schools. Compensating educators in a manner that better reflects the continuous training, education, and experience these professionals must obtain will strengthen our children, communities, and future economy.

Expanding Medicaid is a common-sense step that would provide access to affordable Health coverage for thousands of families, bring nearly $4 billion dollars into North Carolina’s economy, create nearly ten thousand jobs, and help rural hospitals that provide critical care remote areas to remain open. Thirty-seven states, including Washington DC, have expanded Medicaid and are Receiving funding that North Carolina is missing out on. Across the state, health care and business leaders have called on the General Assembly to take action this year to close the coverage gap through expanding Medicaid.
